St. Louis City Sewer Lateral Program
A residential sewer lateral is the sewer pipe that runs from your home’s foundation to the sewer main. The sewer pipes inside your home can become clogged or crack due to tree roots or other issues. In much the same way, the main sewer drain that leads all the way to MSD can break or clog, and that can be extremely expensive to fix (upwards of $15k). Thankfully, the city of St. Louis has a Sewer Lateral Repair Program to offset the costs of repairing a broken sewer lateral.
If you experience slow drains, foul odors, or low water pressure, you could have a clogged drain pipe. Knowing where the blockage is located is important, because if the clog is somewhere along the sewer lateral, the St. Louis City Sewer Lateral Repair Program may cover a portion of the repair costs! As the homeowner, you are responsible for hiring a plumber licensed in the city of St. Louis to diagnose the blockage. You will need to submit a plumber’s report along with a video of the issue to the Street Department. Maplewood Plumbing’s camera drain inspection shows you exactly where the problem is and provides you with a video that you can submit with your Sewer Lateral Repair Application.
