Don’t Let a Kitchen Leak Dampen Your Day! We’ll Fix It Fast
Have a leak under your kitchen cabinet? How it’s fixed depends on where the leak is located. If you’re not sure, clean out the cabinet under your sink and lay a towel down. Dry off all the pipes and supply lines and then feel for moisture. There are several places where under cabinet leaks can occur and how they can be fixed:
- Faucet Fixture. The seal may need to be resealed with plumber’s putty or may need a new gasket. Also check the sprayer hose unit, which can leak and drip down the hose into the cabinet below.
- Supply line. A constant leak rather than one that happens only when the sink is turned on is a good clue. Check the supply line and tighten the valve. If the leak is in the line itself, apply a sealant before replacing the hosing. Use a basin wrench to tighten retention nuts at the faucet’s connection points.
- Pipes. If the leak happens only when you use the sink, the leak is most likely in the drainpipes. If the pipes are metal, check for corrosion and replace as necessary. If they are plastic, try tightening at the joints with your fingers. Damaged plastic pipes may simply require sealant, or may need to be replaced. A common cause of leaks is a clogged P-trap. Remove the retaining nuts and empty the trap.
